My mom used to sing to me to put me to sleep when I was a kid, and would play her guitar. Naturally, I grew up wanting to play the guitar, too. The summer after my freshman year of college, I actually sat her down and had her show me how to play "The Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel, and "Scarlet Ribbons," the song she had sung to me at bedtime when I was a kid. With seven chords in my arsenal, I started writing my own tunes.
The Hamburg Demos are a collection of songs written between about 1996 and 2004, recorded in bits and pieces with friends. Human Being is a 3-song demo I recorded with my band (James Sasak, Jack Daley, and Shirlee Berman) in about 2008. Click through and have a listen!
